Heresy won silver

Our golden ale Heresy won SILVER in the SIBA East 2016 Independent Beer Awards announced last night.  One of our  core beers with very loyal drinkers, Heresy (4%) came second over all in the Cask Best Bitters & Pale Ales category sponsored by Charles Faram & Co.

The beers submitted by breweries across the East Region which includes Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Hertfordshire, Peterborough and Bedfordshire, were judged by a panel of blind taste testers.  The panel comprised fellow brewers, supplier associates, members of the press, local CAMRA members and beer enthusiasts.  We are very proud to win an award in the hotly contested Cask Best Bitters and Pale Ale category given the considerable competition.

Heresy is one of our best selling draft beers.  Top-notch pale ale malt and Challenger hops commit the brew to spicy bitterness before Goldings set about delivering citrus and florals.  It is the holy grail of golden ale!

The SIBA Awards took place at Elgoods Brewery in Wisbech yesterday (29 September) and Nelion Ridley attended to accept his certificate.  It was a good night for Essex brewers with Wibblers, Maldon, Brentwood, Colchester and Nethergate all taking home gongs.
