Job Description
Title: Assistant Brewer
Salary: For discussion based on experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week. Typically Monday; Wednesday & Thursday 09.00-16.00 and Tuesday & Friday (brew days) 07.00-16.00. However, the brew schedule may be subject to change. Occasional evening/weekend hours to meet the demands of the brew process or to work at/attend industry events.
Duties include:
Brewing Process To follow brew recipes and assist the brew process including all related cleaning.
Fermentation Carry out gravity checks and yeast skimming/collection and preparing beer for conditioning and racking.
Cask Cleaning & Racking Preparation of casks for cleaning, filling and storage.
Beer Deliveries Carry out beer deliveries to customers as and when required.
Receiving Deliveries To sign for and see in deliveries.
Keyholder When first or last on site to oversee the opening up or secure closing of the entire brewery site. This to include responsibility to padlock the perimeter gate, shared with Greenfields, when last to leave.
Shop Taking card and cash payment for items purchased in the brewery shop, recording sales and stocking the shelves ensuring the space is presentable and attractive at all times.
Social Media Contribute ideas and content for Bishop Nick social media/online marketing and promotion.
Bottles Assist with labelling 500ml bottles and boxing up orders in preparation for courier collection for online sales, when required.
Brewery, Warehouse & Yard To maintain a clean, tidy and presentable working environment.
Domestic area Accept collective responsibility for keeping kitchenette tidy, making teas etc.., and ensuring the staff/public loos are presentable and stocked with paper/towels/soap.
Events Assist in the planning of on-site events and tours and off-site festivals where Bishop Nick has an official presence. Duties may include staffing of these events.
