The Galvin Green Man in Howe Street is due to open officially on 7th November after a period of refurbishment. We attended the preview evening for guests and suppliers as we are pleased to say that they have Heresy, our golden ale, on pump and a selection of our bottled conditioned ales also available on the bar menu. The Galvin Green Man pub is a return home for Essex-born michelin chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin. Set in 1.5acres of riverside meadow amidst beautiful countryside with the River Chelmer as a companion. The Green Man is one of the oldest pubs in Essex - having been built in 1314. It was part of the Ridleys estate of pubs prior to its sale to Greene King in 2005. Situated near Great Waltham it was a hop skip and a jump from the brewery in Hartford End and was a popular favourite.
The Galvin Green Man will comprise a pub and dining room and will host 4 private dining rooms upstairs. They are sourcing local produce including flour from Marriages Millers, preserves from Tiptree, ales from Adnams, meat from Great Garnetts etc... Expect classic pub dishes of the highest quality. They were keen to get Ridleys beer back in the pub and have been incredibly supportive and complimentary about our products. We're excited to be a part of it.
There was a real buzz about the place last night and members of the Essex County Cricket team were in attendance as they are sponsoring one of the private dining rooms.
They're filling up fast understandably. So book a table quick.
